The Dark Knight fit the conventions of a hero movie. The movie had a hero and a villain. The Joker blows up a hospital, a criminal, burns a tower of cash and had intentions of blowing up a oat full of people. In addition the Joker gives Batman several challenges throughout the movie.  Including a choice of saving Harvey or Rachel.

Review

The Dark Knight was a good movie. The joker was amazing i love his magic trick where me makes the pencil disappear.
I loved how much chaotic and interesting the joker is. It makes the movie. The joker is the first main character to appear and he comes back over and over. He confronts the mob, airs on the news, gets arrested, breaks out, gives a sad but true speech to Dent before blowing up a hospital. I mean without the joker their wouldn’t have been a Dark Knight.

Phone Booth is a Drama, suspense film. Drama films are meant to be intense.
They are suppose to be realistic and plot base with very little special effect.

This movie met the conditions of a Drama movie because it was base on the main character Stew and the whole movie was about Stew’s life. The story is realistic and there are only a few special effects.

Review

I enjoyed watching Phone Booth, I guessed the pizza guy would be the killer but I didn’t think the movie would end the way it did. I was surprised at how short the movie was it finished within one class. I wouldn’t want to end up in stew’s shoes I would probably get shot:( i’m saying this cause  the movie is realistic. There are people in this word who take the law into their own hands and assassinate people they think should be punished. know that I think about it this killer is similar to the one in SAW. scary stuff…

This movie fit the conventions of an action movie their where several fighting scenes including gun fights and their was a heavy chase scene  that happened right after the gas station was set on fire. The movie also had the cliche girl gets kidnaped and the hero saves the girl.

Review

I enjoyed watching this movie after viewing it i realized i had seen the ending of the chase scene and the end of the movie. Keanu Reeves was really funny his voice was amazing. I loved the sky diving scenes i want to go sky diving. When Bohdi was getting away by sky diving i was thinking JUMP! JUMP! what are you waiting for? I would have already jumped out after him. and when Johnny final jumped I was like. YEESSS!

What are the conventions of this genre?

The conventions of a romantic, comedy are romance and comedy.

For a romance film there has to be a love story between two individuals. A few dating scenes a few a first kiss or a bed scene and one of the characters will learn something about the other that makes them break up. The movie usually ends after they get back together. A comedy is just suppose to be funny. The main story line can be anything from romance to action. A comedy should make people laugh almost every time they watch the movie.

How did this film meet or contradict the conventions?

I would say that Along came Polly fit the conventions of a romantic comedy because Ruben and Polly fall in love. They went on a few dates, i believe they ate at 2 restaurants and they went to an underground dance place twice. There was a bed scene and Polly later found out Ruben couldn’t decide between her or Lisa and she broke up with him. Ruben eventually went to Polly and made his speech where Polly took him back.

In addition, there are several characters that make the movie funny such as Rubens best man, the scuba guy, Ruben, Ruben’s boss and the base jumping guy. These characters except Ruben  have very little influence for the romantic aspect of the movie however they make the viewers laugh throughout the movie.

Review

I enjoyed watching this movie I am not a big romance movie fan however I like Ben Stiller as an actor and he plays funny roles in movies. I thought the movie was really funny and I have to give the movie credit for having the conventions of a romantic comedy.
I would recommend this film to anyone over 13 and to those who enjoy romantic comedies.

I think the movie is about how the economy relies on too much on oil and that one day oil will destroy our cities. My reasoning behind this is when all the building start coming down during the earthquake and oil start to shoot up out of the grown. i think it symbolizes the downfall of major corporations and the rise of oil prices. Because the oil prices will rise everyone will be affected therefore we will all be in dept/ underwater. well thats my opinion on the movie.

Aids and Haiti our final choice was to raise awareness to give blood.

INVESTIGATE:

Identify the problem to be solved

Giving blood is important to our society due to the fact that people need blood. The problem is that people do not realize the importance of giving blood, until they have to. Many healthy people forget to give blood because they are preoccupied with daily occupations. This public service announcement relates to health and social because it raises awareness and importance of giving blood. One of the major reasons we need to give blood is because blood is the vital key to our survival. more importantly  this relates to health and social because it allows individuals to learn about proper health practices and to become more aware of they society and how it functions. This problem is worth solving because  giving blood saves lives.

Develop the design brief

I know that giving blood is important because people have different blood types and certain blood types can only receive blood from 1 or 2 other blood types. Therefore, it is important to have blood saved for different people of different blood types. I need to investigate how I can use my knowledge to develop my social awareness video, In addition I must download a song from The Fray.

Formulate a design specifications

This public service announcement should make viewers think about donating blood to help their society.  The requirements for this project are to capture the audiences attention and hopefully they will donate blood. The second requirement is to adjust the audio to go with the video of the public service announcement.

DESIGN:

The product that i will be using to teach my target audience is a video. I came to this conclusion shortly after our generous media teacher so kindly said to me and the rest of the sec.5 ib students in my class that we will be making a video. I believe that making a video is the easiest and most effective method of catching someones attention and to make them more aware of what is going on. Especially, if it’s as important as saving lives.

PLAN:

My plan is to help my group with ideas for the project, do research about blood donations, learn how to use the audio on the school’s program, to download How To Save A Life and to upload it and fix the audio as best as i can.

CREATE:

My task is to edit the audio and sound of the social awareness announcement. I removed the sound of a door shutting while the director was filming someone during their interview. It was interesting procedure, i wouldn’t say i did the best job but because i couldn’t replace the empty sound with anything. The reason i left a space with no audio is because when i adjusted the audio it was no longer in sink with lips of the people who where taped after that scene.  In addition to all that I placed the song How to Save a Life thought the video because i was limited to 30-90 seconds and the visual part ended at 88 seconds which prevented me from putting anything after the video.

EVALUATION:

CRITERION A
Investigate: 5/6

I think i did very well in my investigate stage, i would give myself a 5/6. I completed all the giving requirements and I believe i was very meticulous in how I wrote it. I explained what the problem is, why it is a problem and how i plan on fixing it. In addition, i also did my share of research where I learned how important blood donations can be.

CRITERION B
Design: 6/6

I would give my self a 6/6. This was the most difficult part of the project as it requires me to give myself a mark based on they 5 choices my group and i came up with and which form of media that it will be distributed with. The 5 topics where;

• Aids
• world peace
• fundraiser for Haiti
• Drug and alcohol abuse
• Give blood

We chose to do a video because it was the right choice, and it was given to us by our teacher:P

CRITERION C
Plan: 4/6

I would give my self a 4/6 for my plan because I didn’t learn how to use the program before I started working. Other that that i completed 4 out of the five 5 things properly and efficiently  ..well i completed all 5 but i should have done that specific one ahead of time.

CRITERION D
Create: 5/6

I have to give my self a 5/6 because i completed my part using the edit program premiere and i followed all my steps in my plan. The only thing i could fix 100% were noises in the back ground while people where talking and the section i removed a door shutting could be replaced. However, I am proud of the sound editing that i did because it was my first time in addition got everything to fit quite nicely with the song and everything.

CRITERION E
Evaluation: 5/6

I am giving my self a 5/6 because i did my evaluation accordingly by evaluating my self in every stage of this project. I do feel that i could have improved the audio if I learned how to use the program before hand. I may have been able to remove the humming in the background from the first scene and i may have been able to replace the empty gap with something. Although there were minor things i could have improved, the end result is really good and it in forms the viewer that giving blood does save lives.

CRITERION F
Attitudes In Technology: 5/6

I would like to give my self a 5/6 because I did work with new technology, I learned how to use it and I learned some cool stuff. I had lots of fun learning and tweaking things and sounds to best fit the video and to get to my finish product. I would defiantly want to do it again.. well i would mind being a sound editor in a future project.

the last sentence is…. I lost my original plan so i did a new one and then i found my…. and it continues on page two of the scan.

Strengths: The strengths in making an informational website are: It gets information out faster. It is an easy access point. Provides contact information. Internet is available to most people. It gets someone into a right mind frame.

Weaknesses: There are many informational websites. Just written information, no videos. One must be a member in order to see any information.
